Exciting Changes Coming to Fairfax Volleyball Club

It is our pleasure to announce that Fairfax Volleyball Club (FVC) is now part of the Northern Virginia Volleyball Association (NVVA). NVVA is a non-profit organization founded in 1997 with the goal of promoting youth volleyball in Northern Virginia. Since then, NVVA has become one of the largest volleyball organizations on the East Coast managing youth leagues, club volleyball, summer camps, and more. By working hand in hand with FVC, NVVA stands ready to offer services that not only will cater to Fairfax Volleyball Club’s members but also to the full range of volleyball enthusiasts in our area.

“I would like to thank our members for helping Fairfax Volleyball Club grow the sport of volleyball over the years! It’s been a great ride, and we hope you’ve enjoyed playing in our leagues,” said Eric Mills, Fairfax Volleyball Club’s President.

“Fairfax Volleyball Club has been an important partner of NVVA for the past seven years, hosting their popular adult recreational leagues at the Virginia Volleyball Center (VVC), home of NVVA. We have been speaking for many years about ways to work together to grow adult volleyball in the Northern Virginia region,” said NVVA’s President/CEO Rodrigo Gomes.

“I would like to thank the Fairfax Volleyball Club Council to trust us to continue their legacy. I would like to especially thank Council Member Dan Ackerman and Administrator Tia Storey for working so hard to make this transition happen. I would also like to welcome Tia to the NVVA staff — she will serve as our Adult Programs Coordinator. Tia will be a great asset to our organization and I am looking forward to continuing working with her,” said Gomes.

NVVA and FVC have been working on a strategic plan for a smooth transition and no major changes in schedules and programs should be expected until the Fall of 2017. Some of the exciting prospects on the table starting in Fall of 2017 include:

  • Earlier match times will be available and scheduled for all leagues.
  • On certain league nights, VVC will be an “adult only” facility,
  • On those “adult only” nights, players will be able to use the workout room and take individual or team clinics (additional fees will apply).

“My staff and I are looking forward to developing new programs and improving existing ones. Last month, we hosted a very successful weekend tournament with FVC at the VVC with food trucks, beer, and apple cider tastings and lots of volleyball. Our adult members should expect to see many more events like that in the future,” said Gomes.

Stay tuned for more transition details as they become available.
