FAQ

I want to play volleyball in Northern Virginia (as an individual or on a team). What should I do?

While Fairfax Volleyball Club does not help individual players form teams, if you’re interested in playing volleyball in Northern Virginia here’s what we recommend:

  • Enter your information the Fairfax Volleyball Club’s Player Looking List database.** You can use this list to find other players (and form a team) or other players can find you to join their team and/or sub.
  • Join our Mixer League (offered in the Fall and Winter). You register for the Mixer League as an individual player and play with — and against — different people every week. This is a great way to meet other players and if you find people with whom you enjoy playing, you can form a team and join one of our other leagues (women’s/men’s, coed, reverse coed). To register, click here or contact our league administrator.
  • Go to meetup.com and search for volleyball in the Northern Virginia/DC/MD area using your zip code. You’ll see that there are a lot of pick-up groups and getting out to play with those groups is a great way to meet players and form a team.
  • Contact CHRVA. If you are interested in playing USA Volleyball, you can contact CHRVA (the regional division of USAV — Chesapeake Region Volleyball Association) for information about meeting CHRVA players and trying out for a team.

** Note: the “Player Looking List” is generated from a database that is cleared of information each year on August 1 (the first day of FVC’s new “year”; FVC’s year is August 1 – July 31). You will need to register yourself as an individual player each August if you want your information to remain on the “Player Looking List.”
